From an email from Krista, New York City:
I am sorry for the mass email but we have no telephone service and have gotten many emails regarding our safety. Todd and I live about 15 blocks north of the world trade center. Todd had just left to move the car. I was on the computer and heard the first plane. It was so unbelievably loud. It flew right above the apartment and was so loud I thought it was going to hit us. I ran outside just in time to see it hit the first building. I thought it was a plane crash. I ran upstairs and grabbed Todd's cell phone and called my mother. About twenty minutes later I saw Todd coming down the street and ran to see if he was ok and to tell him I had seen the crash. We heard about the second plane but did not see it. We saw both building collapse. Because we are so close to WTC we decided to get out of the village after the second collapse because of the smoke. We were afraid it was just going to engulf us. We went up to my brothers apartment in midtown. We stayed there a few hours and then made our way back down to the village
The first plane was SO close to our apartment. It started to pull up as it crossed Bleecker and Houston. When it hit WTC it had pulled the nose up pretty high.
It was an awful, awful, awful thing to see.
So we are OK. A little freaked out. But not hurt.
